Hm… the advice I give is general and it was not aimed at Google AdSense programs. Don’t confuse SEO as a whole with optimizing for Google. Even so… creating web copy for AdSense is not what I’d call good practice.

The ads shown by Google on this site are relevant for the content of the article – as relevant as they can be. Remember that Google’s AdSense bot has no semantic algorithms -meaning that it is not able to recognize that this article is about SEO and not about wedding dresses.

Funny observation: have a look at the Google ads on this page: to me they show ads for both wedding dresses and SEO services. Goes to show how important it is to stay on topic on ones web site. For businesses in not very competitive markets, just writing lots of good copy on their products can be all the SEO they need.

I couldn’t agree with less when you said that search engines follow people. Writing the title of a web page or blog post is truly critical since this is one of the factors how search engines would display your site in response to a search query. I even noticed that a capital letter and a small letter would result to varying search results. Thanks to your post. Every SEO enthusiast should read this important lesson in search engine optimization.

The choice of keyword is very arguable because somebody wanting to buy fishing gear might want to buy clothes as well. So while they are on my site they might convert. Even better because google uses behavioral data you could rank higher simply because you are more visited!

Analysis keyword VS keywords are more important. It’s always better to go back to the basics, and cue us. I thought these things were without questioning, but it makes me want to have another look at my sites.

I guess it comes down to what you are selling, although for bloggers, staying within a pre-defined keyword structure may be a little more difficult than a static website. But I do agree with you for the most part.
