Well, Brad, it also depends on the people in the network, the "friends and followers" - for example I used to follow Yaro who considered very important to let everyone know about his travel habits. OK, let's say this was useful since it explained why he was not available for twits for one or two hours. But then... other people sharing their morning habits (one coffee with three sugars, etc) really made the twitter experience less worthy. Couldn't filter them, some are actually people I admire and respect and it is always amazing how much time they spent ranting. If conversation means pointless ranting, then we are all in trouble.

As I said, I don't deny twitter's "community value" - I just state that there are other things that deserve our attention. And I have Allen to thank for pointing that out.

I'm still trying to make up my mind about Twitter. When I joined, I was very skeptical. But through Twitter I have met a few very good blogger connections, found some job opportunities and a number of excellent ideas for blogging and marketing. If you filter out the extraneous stuff, and there are tools like TweetDeck to help you do that, Twitter can be useful.

I have to agree, sexy is out. Of course when sites like digg and twitter become main-stream...are they not sexy any more as a result? Its a repedative pattern. Some one comes up with an awesome idea...it gets beat to death and then google and any body else, discount the authority of what comes from the once great site.
