The “lists fever” as I call it is a genuine traffic bringer. People love lists – and as much as I don’t like listing things, I have to reconsider. Because I love people.
I wrote a few entries about the Web, communication, friendship and relationships. I wrote about my friends a few times, I mentioned how proud I was to know Liz Strauss, Alina Popescu, Jen the Thruthdancer, Yvonne Russell, Laura Spencer, Lillie Ammann, and so many others. And what all these people have in common is that… I’ve never met them in the real life. They are all “virtual friends” – yet the connection I feel with each and every one of them is stronger than life. Any of them knows that I will be there whenever they need me. A powerful statement, yet as true as it can get.
Liz wiped my tears, Alina takes my heart home, Jen reminds me to forgive and forget, Yvonne is the perfect colleague and friend, Lillie brings God closer to my heart and Laura is always there when I ask for her help. True friends are made of this. You see, these are not “my readers.” They read my stuff, I read their stuff, but there is a lot more to it and we often don’t need too many words to know that what we have is special and unbreakable.
I remember how Yvonne encouraged me when I was somehow depressed because too much offline work kept me away from my friends and my readers. And each time I chat with Alina I miss my family and friends less – because she is there, true Romanian spirit, a pure heart. I could write so many pages about each and every one.
Ten Reasons Why I love Pearl
I opened this entry with a short note on lists. Obviously my plan was to make a list. And I kept you waiting. Sometimes it feels good to wait for things that are really worth it. Pearl is worth it. She is my friend and she is more than that: she is someone who trusts me above all, although she has never seen me in person. It feels good to be trusted by a genuine human being, a soul so pure and young that many of us should just stop and behold in wonder.
- I love Pearl because she opened my heart with a key I thought lost. Each time Pearl writes to me I feel her soul. I was afraid I lost the power of feeling friendship from the distance. Pearl reminded me that when true hearts come on the same wavelength anything is possible.
- She trusts me, as I said. Unconditionally. And I trust her in return. And there is nothing anyone could ever do to make me betray that trust.
- She is always kind and her advice comes from her heart. Pearl doesn’t judge my choices, but warns me, as any other sweet friend would, to approach life decisions with care. And what I like about her advices is that… Pearl never gives a lecture. She just gives her heart. Truth from a woman who knows human nature and who’s more kind than words could ever say.
- She makes me smile, she makes me laugh and she makes me cry. And I will not tell you how she does all these things, and when she does them. All you have to do is to read her blog, in depth, not just the latest entries. You see, Interesting Observations is about everything: life, work, people, the Internet. But most importantly, it is about Pearl.
- As I already told her, Pearl comes from a magic world of fairies and elves, where fantasy creatures run free and the Pearls (her symbol) dominate the scenery with their magic beauty. Pearl’s soul is serene and wild at times. A paradox in every way. Pearl reminds me of a fairy tale. She reminds me how to be a child again.
- Pearl makes me stronger. We exchange emails often – mostly when we need strength. And Pearl gives without delay. She reminds me of all the things that matter in life.
- Pearl is a believer – against all odds. We all have drawbacks in life, ups and downs. Destiny hasn’t spared Pearl either. But she keeps on walking with a warm smile on her face, inspiring me to follow.
- Pearl gives without taking. As true friends do. And after she gives, she forgets the gift. How unique. There are not many people able of such selflessness.
- Pearl takes with grace. It feels like the breeze blowing softly over the shore. It’s always a pleasure to give Pearl a piece of my heart, even if just virtually.
- Pearl is a model, a true friend and an inspiration.
Of course, my list is probably a bit redundant. But you see, there are some things I just had to repeat.
Why such a list today? Well, in a world dominated by lists that tell about how to make money online, how to reboot your PC and other such general topics, it feels good to remember that nothing is possible without the people in our lives. And they need to know how much we respect them and how much we value them.
Now take some time to think about it: is there anyone in your life who deserves such a list? Then you know how rich you are.
Thank you, Pearl, for being my friend. This is my homage to you.

Mig,
Thank you for being my friend, and thank you for introducing us to Pearl.
I only hope that one day we will all meet and have a great time really knowing each other
OMG OMG!!! Mig, I am completely speechless! I admit I had to bring the whole box of tissues, so along with a huge grin, I am crying…a true paradox
I feel as if you just looked at me through time and space!
I wonder what I did to deserve such love and attention…. I am so humbled by this honor!
you know that saying, don’t you? “We don’t see things as they are, we see them as we are.” By Anais Nin? Thats exactly what has happened here… you are a rare Gem yourself, and you reflect your own light on everyone around you
so you see me, her, him and everyone else shining too
With loads of love and luck
Pearl! *hugs*
XOXO
where are you? I’ve been waiting since morning…. are you okay?
I am here, sorry Pearl, I didn’t take my PC with me this time. I needed a day out.
Love you too!
Wonderful Mig. I totally agree about Pearl but you and her have a lot in common you know. I thank you for the advice and encouragement you have given me without expecting anything in return.
Now I have a lovely warm glowing feeling inside and that feels so good.
Oh Sue! I will always be there for you, as you were for me. We both know that.
I had a lot to learn from you, you know.
One of my longest friends is one I knew since I was 12, now 24…Met him while playing ultima online back in the day. We stay in touch daily and I think online relationships can be just as powerful if not more so.
Yes Matt, they are really powerful. It’s hard to find the words to describe how powerful they are… but I know, from personal experience that they even can change destinies.
Hi Lillie: nice to meet you
Hi Sue: Mig does have a way of making us all feel good, doesn’t she?
Mig: I need a few days without my pc too
I had promised myself to not go on the Internet Sunday morning before going to the gym, but then saw your msg on my post about this and lo and behold I was reading this post over and over in disbelief and getting all emotional…. just couldn’t believe you took my comment so seriously ;P but you definitely made my day!! Honestly, I couldn’t stop showing everyone this post…
so just know that I will always be there for you too… albeit virtually, until your visit to US
hope you got all your Christmas shopping done!!
Oh no! I still need to do a lot of shopping! OMG! I planned Wednesday away from the PC again.
My visit to US could be in February… and it might turn into a longer visit.
yayyy that’ll be so nice Mig… can’t wait for the day
Mig, thank you so much for placing me on your special list
Pearl sounds like a really amazing person. You two are really lucky to have found each other
There you are! I was beginning to wonder where you hide!
Thanks, Mig, for including me on your list of online friends and for introducing me to Pearl. She has a wonderfully creative blog to share.
I was not looking for virtual friendship when I entered the blogosphere, but the friendships that have developed online have been a wonderful surprise. (Kind of like getting a present when it’s not Christmas or your birthday.)
I know what you mean, Laura. This very blog had no other purpose but purely business and today… it’s the bridge between us. As Pearl says: “I am all, because of you!”
@Alina: thank you for the kind words…Yes! I am very fortunate to have found Mig…. She is amazing
@Laura: thank you
you know, this was the best Christmas present I’ve had in years! These friendships and connections we develop are at the core of blogging and is what keeps me going…..
and as Mig says, this blog was started out as business but became a bridge.. I still have no clue as to what “niche” my blog is in
but I am having a blast simply because of all the love and support I get from my friends!
I wasn’t hiding, just caught up in daily…nonsense
Hi Mig,
Pearl is amazing and is very creative with her blog.
Like many others, I stated blogging not to make friendships, but to pass on information. Somehow it kind of snowballed and I started my secondary blog. I wouldn’t knock any of it as I have met so many amazing and diverse people globally, and this is what makes it all bind together.
Hope the rest of your week is wonderful
I understand how stressful the PR work can be, Alina. And also how rewarding. Sometimes we need to taste nonsense to fully be able to appreciate the little wonders.
Thank you very much, Colin.
What I find really amazing is the way these apparently business blogs reveal our hearts and sometimes we don’t even realize it!
Mig,
I have been away from catching up on blogs, so this was a wonderful suprise! Thank you!
I agree that blogging friendship connections are very powerful. I like your analogy of a “bridge.”
Lovely to get to know Pearl better too.
I am glad you have some time now to catch up on blogs. I know why you were not around for so long. I felt your spirit with me anyway!
It’s amazing how you are able to write a long post totally focused on the people close to and that you love. Its even amazing that the people you are talking about is not close to you but still means a lot to you. I love how you make a top list, about the qualities of a person, this has really shocked me, because right the work is taking over me too. I really have gotten away from the people who I should pay more atention. Best wishes my friend. Excelent blog. By the way having the response of Pearl on the comments was totally worth reading.
