Two of my favorite web writers started blogging on their own domains. Sue, a blogger you all probably know from Sueblimely – Discovering Blogging and Phil Butler, A-list blogger at Profy and Read/WriteWeb.
Not long ago, the one and only Liz Strauss has started a new blog at lizstrauss.com. Apparently there is a trend and I hope this will inspire other of the great writers I know start blogging on their own branded domains.
Liz is always an inspiration. I don’t remember seeing such dedication and love for people somewhere else. A true guru, in the real sense of the word, and not a self fabricated product of online marketing and money-making goals.
Liz is THE teacher.
Liz is one of those few people I’d call my mentors. Liz is genuine, honest and true. And you can easily imagine that I am proud to be part of a world touched by this wonderful spirit.
You all know Liz. And if you don’t, don’t miss another second. Not knowing Liz is like missing the sunrise!
No let me go back to Sue and Phil. When I say excellent I mean excellent.
Take for instance Phil’s most recent entry on his new blog: Part I – Beyond Good and Google. I could go on and on analyzing and scrutinizing his arguments, to reach in the end to the same conclusion: I’ve never read a most complete and pertinent analysis on this challenging topic. Yes, I have my share of Google is evil entries, I’m also aware that there is a lot to learn from this company, but this is not the point. The point comes in Phil’s words:
Google “represents a lazy and mediocre evolution of something that could have been fabulous and good for everyone.”
To connect this quote with their real meaning, you have to visit Phil’s blog and have your say. Bookmark it too. I am sure you will have many reasons to come back.
Sue is inviting you in a challenging journey: she writes about blogging, social networking, communications and relationships. Pretty much what Liz does, but in a different style, with a different approach. Yet we see here the same genuineness and dedication.
Sue’s been around the blogosphere for 6 years now. That’s a long time, my friends. And that’s a lot of experience. You can welcome the new Sueblimely blog with a comment on her first entry: WordPress on my Own Domain.

I think Liz Strauss rocks when she writes

Author Comment: you already have a nofollow link in your signature. There is absolutely no need to insert a new one in your comment, also considering that it is irrelevant for this entry. I have a 0 spam tolerance.
I know or have met all three of these fine folks in my travels, Mihaela, and I agree with you on your assessment of each one of them, Mihaela. Then again, I’m very biased when I connect with folks online, or anywhere for that matter.
Well, that is except for those who are promoting how to install Infant car seats.
~:o)
I would consider you another Liz, Mig. A generous and supportive blogger with a huge amount of knowledge to impart. Thank you for your kind comments.
Hi Saboma,
I know you are familiar with all these three bloggers. Wonderful people, aren’t they?
I saw your comment on Phil’s blog.
Yes, infant car seats was the anchor text. LMAO! Nothing wrong with that, just purely irrelevant.
Sue, that is the most wonderful compliment anyone has ever made me! To be compared with Liz? OMG! Thank you so much, my wonderful friend! I guess now I have to live up to those expectations.
Thanks for drawing my attention to these new blogs by proven bloggers!
I did not intend to put any pressure on you. Just try to live up to your own expectations
I changed the blog name to Blogging Sueblimely – knowing that my other blog tends to not be visible in scrolling blogrolls due to beginning with S. What do you think?
Hi Laura,
these are indeed excellent sources. And certaily worth the mention.
It was a very good move to do that,Sue – not only for blogrolls, but for directories too.
Thank you Mig, very much, for linking to my new website. I appreciate it extremely. Ah yes, I didn’t tell you, I became an affiliate of yours a few weeks back. Hope I can get some visitors your way once my stats increase.
Once again, thank you!
Beaman
Thanks for pointing out these bloggers. I am just starting to really make the most of RSS and I am now starting to get a nice list of genuine blogs from genuine bloggers who tell it how it is and I am learning so much. Although it’s the same old story, the more you learn the more you realize you don’t know!
I look forward to your future posts
Tara.
Well, Tara… it is not what you say, it is the way you say it.
This as a response to the “same old story” – but when you will read these three bloggers you will be surprised to find the gems, and the new. It is there.
As you, I always look for genuine blogs and bloggers, and sadly I don’t have enough time to be as active as I would like to be. You are absolutely right, you know. I only wish I had the time to learn all I want to learn.
Oh Mig,
Thank you for saying that. I’m just a talker with lots of words who hopes some of them have some value. My heart is smiling to think that you think so much . . . YOU are a wonder.
Liz
Your words have more than value, and you are not just a talker. But you know that already! I will always thank God for having you in my life. And thank YOU Liz for what you give!
MIG – You are going to kill me! I was wrapped up in something these last few days and totally missed the great compliment you leveled at me. I appreciate you so much – you know that! There is not a finer person drawing breath and I am quite sure of that.
Thanks for your warm comments and everything you are! Incomparable, as I have told you many times. If we all emulate you, we could not be far from heaven.
Always, Phil
Hi Mig,
Sue I know very well and her posts are great reading, Liz and Phil I will have to visit.
I must also get my post for Safeguard the Web for Children sorted…time eludes me at the moment
There is a Winning Attitude Award waiting for you at: http://grottynosh.wordpress.com/2007/11/12/another-three-awardswow/
Enjoy and have a great week
Colin
Thank you very much, Colin! That really means a lot to me. Sorry for the late answer – I was out of town these days (and ha ha – forgot the password for my blog)
I think more people will move towards original domains like you stated but I don’t think blogging would have been as popular if it didn’t have a giant free, easy to use platform, such as blogger, or the other ones out there. Always good to keep people/companies honest though and do your own thing, because if it’s better they have to adjust
Liz is awesome.
Web 2.0 is going to greatly reduce Google’s significance going forward.
