Top 9 Reasons to Brand Your Own Name

(because 9 is my lucky number! – and what do you know? I made a list!!!)

  1. because modern business happen at a personal level…
  2. because when you become a brand you have the power to choose and
  3. the value of your work will skyrocket.
  4. because as a brand you’ll be considered an authority in your field…
  5. because when an employer will ask you what you bring to the team you’ll answer: a branded name. And that’s an important asset (unless they are afraid of competition, but look, Lisa Barone is more famous than Bruceclay and her employer understands that she is bringing value to the company);
  6. because your former employer will regret letting you off (the sweet taste of “revenge”);
  7. because other “brands” will invite you into their world (and what a world that is!),
  8. because it feels good to make a difference in peoples’ lives;
  9. because you can! And you should! For yourself, if not for the world.

    Good point! Sadly General Hospital got to my name before I thought of this.

  3. Mihaela Lica says:

    Well, Steli, there are two other Mihaela Lica on the net. One authors books for kids (she is a teacher) and the other is from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or something like this. So my name is not so unique. But… Mihaela “Mig” Lica is one of a kind… (besides, although the other two Mihaelas are present on the Web, they have a 2% occurence… so I am doing my job right. LOL!)

    @Laura: you mean Laura Spencer? I am not familiar with the General Hospital.

  4. Diogenes says:

    Yes! If one has something up his/her sleves, why not so it.

  5. Mihaela Lica says:

    Hm…. I’m not sure I understand what you mean. Sleves?

  6. laura says:

    For years General Hospital has been a popular Soap Opera (daytime TV show) in this country. One of the most popular characters is named Laura Spencer (which is my married name). After I got married the first thing I usually heard after introducing myself was “Laura Spencer, do you mean like on General Hospital?” I actually don’t watch daytime TV, but because of the name thing I sort of learned about it. If you google my name, the top results are always for the TV character.

    Oh well!

  7. Mihaela Lica says:

    LOL, I see what you mean. But you could still brand your name: Laura’s Writing Thoughts :) or Laura Writes…
