This is another website review from the Online Stores series. I had united-states-flag.com a few days ago, and now I have to review designergifts.com.

The sites are very similar and share some common problems: outdated copyright, some coding problems, which make the site inaccessible for users with disabilities, reduce the SEO potential and cause the menu on the right perform different in different browsers. But from an aesthetic point of view, designergifts.com is better.

The colors are warm and inviting. There’s more relevant information regarding the purpose of the site on the landing page. The texts are much better, there’s more consistency in the design, and the pictures enhance the look and feel of the website.

The website owners have put a lot of effort into the give advice category of the site. There are some pretty good articles there, including a History of Birthday Celebrations & Traditions.

To be honest, I like the site and I like particularly to browse the gift ideas categories. I don’t know about you, but I always find it difficult to choose a gift for a man.

Considering that Father’s Day is near (June 17th) this review is a welcome opportunity to learn something about the coolest gift ideas for men (designergifts.com is proud of its digital picture frames) and even to find some cheap gifts or exclusive gifts, depending on how much you are willing to spend.

I find the gift baskets interesting and I’ll just look at them for inspiration. I’ve never done something really special for my father. OK, I made him proud, I bought him gifts on all occasions and sometimes just to see him smile, but I’ve never gave him a gift basket and I know he’d like something like that. I’m not too artistry when it comes to floral arrangements and making such a basket, so the inspiration is good.

I’d love to see a similar site in Romania. Then I could order something online and have it delivered at my father’s, without needing to worry about postal services that often fail delivering a message in time. Who knows, maybe Online Stores will extend its business?

Online Stores won several times the Yahoo! Top Service award, so I am confident that the company is offering excellent customer service and I have no reason to doubt the quality of the products. I’ve even performed an online search to see whether there are customer complains or not and I could come up with noting. And it’s not easy to hide from me, not even online.

You probably wonder why I am so excited about this site. I am excited about all the good online stores I find. I do all my shopping online, except fresh food: clothes, electronics, and cosmetics. I use otto.de and yves-rocher.de. I find online stores practical and comfortable, especially because I do not like walking from one store to another and trying on different things. But that’s just me. If you don’t like online shopping, maybe you should really start looking for the perfect Father’s Day gift offline. Time flies…
