Harmony

… as Harmony of Writer In The Making states in her entry An Interview Meme. Her metaphor is not so difficult to decipher: this meme is special because instead of participating as a result of a “tag” you get to volunteer. So… would you like to be interviewed by a former military journalist (that’s me)? Then volunteer for this meme. How? Simply post a comment here “I’m in” and I’ll “tickle your brain” with 5 questions. Common! It’s going to be fun. Dare! Here are my answers to the questions given to me by Harmony.

Harmony: Why do you write?

Mig: It depends what I write. When I write poetry I do it because I don’t want to cry. I write on paper, the old fashioned way, with a glass of red wine at hand and candlelight to purify the air. I write in Romanian because I cannot find the right words to express my deepest feelings in other languages. The translations are poor and often “foggy”, but here is one of my poems (I wrote it soon after my divorce)…

Feel the rain within your heart (crying doesn’t take it out)
while from time to time the wind blows a sin inside your veins
pushing hard upon your soul like a fist of dirty steel.
And you wonder on your way who’s the one seeding the sins
who’s the one leading your steps on the path to death and dark?
And the answer? You know why.
Now you long for forest green and for fertile soils to find
perfect spots for your poor roots hurt and fragile, as they are.
Sunrise doesn’t bring you joy when you fear the crack of dawn
and the sunset seems for you as the last curse brought along
to embrace your lonely dreams on the waters of the Styx.
Isn’t that your deepest wish?
Sunset is what you desire and you watch the darkness fall
with a smile, one of the few… Way too much, or way too slow
were you drinking poisoned wine. And you drink it every day. . .
Every day, because you know that the darkness fall can melt
in a crazy dream just if you can drink the venom now,
let it take you on its wings and then drink it once again
when the thirst conquers the pain.
Can’t you just forgive yourself?

When I write prose… time stands still. It needs to. And I write to cure my soul. And when I blog, I write to give. I learn so much from other bloggers. I find so many wonders each day simply by browsing the Web. And I hope other people will surf these pages and leave richer…

Harmony: Where is your favorite writing spot?

Mig: It doesn’t matter. I can write anywhere, as long as I am near a window. And I need my music. It’s my power… a vital energy if you want. I cannot imagine life without salsa.

Harmony: What are your hobbies?

Mig:I don’t know if I really have hobbies. I don’t even know if I like the word. Hobby sounds so minimal. As you, I am a LEO. I also happen to have Latin blood running through my veins (I am a Romanian). So I don’t have hobbies… I have passions. And fire. I paint and I write. I read to travel around the world and to understand. I dance to be in touch with God… Pagan habit, I know… it reminds me of the bacchante. Maybe I am one of them. After all, the god of wine was born in Thrace and Thrace… is Romania.

Harmony: Who is someone you talk to everyday that does not live in your house?

Mig: Well, every day… is too often. But I talk to my friend Cristina (Romanian name, no misspelling). She is a real balsam for the heart. She is wise and kind, warm and down to earth.

Harmony: How are you doing on your New Year’s Resolutions?

Mig: New Year… is just another day for me. I think I do around my birthday what people generally do on their New Year’s Resolutions. The self-critique is unbearable. Wait! I don’t even want to think about it. I have no reasons to put myself down today.

Well, that’s about it. Now you know me better. I wonder how many other bloggers will have the courage to volunteer for this meme. It’s not so easy to answer the questions of a “perfect stranger”. But once we do… somehow we are not strangers anymore. So what about you, my dear readers? Would you like to open your hearts?
