Phil Butler asked a very interesting question on his blog: in your opinion, what are the best and the worst innovations in technology?
This question (you can find some interesting answers on Phil’s site) leads me to another idea: to ask you what are the best online business models?
As a matter of fact, Phil’s blog is not the only motivation behind this entry. This post is a paid review for Washington Times – for the story InPhonic’s plan for growth connects to be more exact.
It probably surprises you to see a sponsored entry on eWritings. I usually refuse to accept financial compensation to “advertise” on this site. Yet “usually” is not synonym with “always”. I’ve posted some sponsored reviews in the past, but most of them were negative. Fortunately for the advertiser, today my review is positive.
InPhonic has a solid business plan. This is one of the best and most successful online businesses I know. It also happens to be one of the most serious as well. InPhonic (Nasdaq INPC) sells wireless phones online. They use all possible channels: own retail websites (Wirefly.com, A1Wireless.com and VMCSatellite.com), affiliate programs and even eBay.
Now they have about 8 million customers and I see this business growing even more. Their online advertising campaigns are quite aggressive (this paid review is just one of the online public relations tools used to “brand” the business and gain public awareness). An excellent customer support and quality products back up these campaigns. The Wirefly eBay store shows 98.9 % satisfied customers. The company already has 475 employees and almost no competitors. These are not “empty” numbers. These are statistics that prove the quality of this company and support my previous statement: InPhonic runs one of the best online businesses. I see InPhonic going Global. It’s just a matter of time.
