So years have passed and the reality is that as with articles there is really no value behing 99% of press releases. All is done for the mighty google and not for the press or the audience. I wonder how many content is really published for the content per se and not just for google love...

You must make sure you submit your Press Release on the right day to the right people or you may not reach the perfect audience. Google this and you will be surprised on how much information there is out there on submitting PR's.

I work with press releases every day, and this article is right on the money! In school I learned the traditional format, and we also touched on social media press releases. I did not realize then how much I would be utilizing the social media tools! Trends are showing increasing uses of these press releases. Not only is it a great way to obtain links, but it is a good way to get your information out there FAST.
Thanks for the article! Very insightful.

George, only I know that you run a PR site, since I deleted your link - due to use of keywords in the signature. It's a shame that you leave a comment and in fact you don't even understand what SMPR is all about.

Has any website actually implemented the layout?

-LMAO!!! The format is NOT for websites, but for press releases. Are you asking if any press release distribution enzine implemented the layout? Yes. PRWeb.

And I always use it for my clients.

Thank you for the information on SMPR's. The concept of a press release has been around for decades, but with the advent of the internet, clearly things are changing with regard to the way to distribute information for PR purposes. The information and links you've provided here are really helpful.

Hi Mihaela,

That was a great article. I am particularly thankful that you asked questions that I've always wanted to ask with regards to SMPR, especially the question on Google devaluating press releases!

Thanks a lot, and great job!

Thank you Gordon. I removed your link though, because you posted it in your signature and this blog has no "nofollow" attributes to signature links. :)
