When Jon Harmon and I started the Blogger Power: Safeguard the Web for Children campaign we didn’t have the idea to start a blog meme to motivate the bloggers join our cause. We wrote a few emails instead, created a community on MyBlogLog, and contacted some local politicians. These politicians are willing to help, but they need to see this is a serious movement.
There were not many answers to our emails – probably because the fear of spam generates skeptic reactions. I wouldn’t be surprised to find out that the bloggers I wrote to delete my messages without even reading them. Or maybe some use overzealous spam blockers that sent my emails straight to the bulk folder. Words like “porn” trigger the spam filters in a flash.
So I am back today, following Ilker’s idea, to tag 20 bloggers. And I am going to tag the bloggers whose blogs I read the most. But before that they should know what this is all about.
For those of you interested in more information about this project, here is the link to the Open Letter to Bloggers Around the World: Help Make the Web Safer for Children.
Once again: THIS IS NOT ABOUT RESTRICTING ANYONE’S FREE SPEECH!
Liz Strauss has published an interview with me on her blog about this initiative. Please read it if you want to know me better and if you want to know how it all started.
And here are you, the bloggers I tag. You are all important people! You don’t know me, but I know you! I read your blogs, I know you are responsible and committed to what you believe in. And I think you can help. Please give Blogger Power a bit of your time and if you consider the initiative worth, show your support!
Thank you all!

1Thank you for including me in this cause. It’s certainly something I believe strongly in.
I’ve just launched a project so won’t be posting on DWB for a couple of days (I’m totally shagged out) but I will join in soon. I make that promise to you.

3@ Cat:
Good to hear that, Cat! So far only you and Graywolf have answered my request. I see that bloggers don’t really like to be tagged, but I think this is for a good cause and I hope they’ll not be disturbed this time.
@Justin:
Great link, Justin. We’ll need more statistics like this to convince people that open pornography is really a problem and something needs to be done. We cannot just continue going around blaming just the parents for the faults of an entire society. Acting responsibely is a duty for all.
