The following press release is pretty important for me. my-tronic GmbH used to be one of my clients. Is my-tronic Ledon going to employ me from now on as well? Are they going to need the person who made a small village company known internationally? I don’t know. Let’s see, shall we? In the meanwhile, this is their own press release (I have nothing to do with it. I just distribute it!)
Dornbirn/Austria - The Zumtobel Group is expanding its activities in the LED sector. Under the lead management of its subsidiary LEDON Lighting GmbH (LEDON), the Group has acquired the business activities of my-tronic GmbH, based in Morbach/Germany, and renamed the acquiring company my-tronic Ledon GmbH. The acquisition took place in January 2007. the deal opens up new fields of business for LEDON, as well as growing the company’s LED product portfolio. The resultant increase in research and development resources will enable LEDON to access new LED-based lighting solutions.
Expansion of its LED activities is part of the Zumtobel Group’s growth strategy and a major milestone in its efforts to drive forward innovations. In the second quarter of the current financial year, for example, the Zumtobel Group was able to maintain its upward trend in the LED sector, reporting revenue growth of 35 percent against the prior-year period.
Zumtobel Group CEO Andreas Ludwig is convinced that, with my-tronic Ledon GmbH, Zumtobel will be able to maintain the momentum of its expansion in the LED sector: “Through this acquisition, we are sustaining our pattern of growth in what is a key strategic technology for the Zumtobel Group. This will enable us to open up new fields of business in the LED sector and to manufacture new and innovative products.”
In the course of the acquisition, LEDON will expand its capacities in the engineering sector, helping the company not only to implement ongoing customer projects, but also to drive forward the product innovation process. Within LEDON, my-tronic Ledon GmbH will form a Centre on Competence and will be a key supplier in the development and production of LED embedded systems and intelligent LED lighting solutions. Also, my-tronic Ledon GmbH will complement the activities of LEDON in accessing new fields of application, such as media facades.
my-tronic Ledon GmbH will be integrated into the process structures of LEDON and will market its products under the LEDON brand. In the context of the integration process, 20 employees will be taken over.

1Very interesting. Far too many people ignore color when developing a web site. I like the orange / blue theme here it draws your eyes right to the content, nice clean look. You also have great content which helps.

2Thanks, David. Your comment refers to Defining Online Branding - Part 4 - Color Psychology I suppose. This site is a standard WordPress theme. I chose the simplest one because I didn’t want to distract the readers from the topic. What really makes me happy is your response to the content of the site. Thank you once again!

3Nice to see that Zumtobel / Ledon took over 20 people. It was sad for me, as a member of the former my-tronic crew, to see the company unnecessarily go down. Too bad I never had a real chance, during my “my-tronic-times”, to change, develop and move the company in a better position.
The new web site really was a beginning in the right direction.
I am convinced that the “new my-tronic” now really has a chance to be profitable (esp. because of a professional management) and find its spot in the led-market.

4I am glad to see you are still watching my-tronic, Markus. I know you were comitted to the team, and we all know what went wrong. The people at my-tronic are professionals and the new managers are indeed what this company needed.

5Sure I am (I actually did not plan to leave the my-tronic crew, but because of certain developments and because I had a totally different opinion about my-tronics way of business - there was no other solution for me!) and I have to admit, Mihaela, you also had right aspects concerning my-tronic, but at that time I had not the full insight yet to realize this.
I am still convinced that my-tronic has a good chance “to shine” in the LED/SSL market - know there is a management what finally has the power and the will to change things suiting market requirements and e.g. give the R&D the time and responsibility they need to finish things.

6As a matter of fact my-tronic will not shine so bright. As “my-tronic Ledon” the company is just going to produce and develop for LEDON. All products are going to be LEDON brands. The “my-tronic” name will fade away… The new company has no logo of its own, no separate company philosophy… nothing. So guess who is going to shine?
