Talking about SEO trends… I’ve stated repeatedly that search engines will do something to make their search results more relevant for the users. It looks like this is already happening. Leading the way (as usual) GOOGLE! And the new trend is called LSI - latent semantic indexing (not that Google was too fast).
Basically Google introduces in the algorithms the “related terms” system, analyzing a given query search in comparison with the content as a whole. Then Google will lower the value of the pages that appear in the search results for terms are not backed up by other related words (synonyms, industry related terms, etc).
LSI will provide (probably – if spammers will not find new ways to trick the system) for more natural results by indexing pages with natural and relevant content.
Hard to say. If you have a “made for adsense” website this will probably cause your site to drop down from the top positions in the SERPs. That assuming that your made for adsense Website has low quality content or uses certain keyword stuffing tricks (and for a reason, although it’s long time clear that this might damage a website, many website owners still employ such techniques) and other black SEO stuff. Additionally, sites that were doing well as a result of an impressive linking strategy based on one or two keyword phrases will fall down too. As I always warned my clients, Google sees anchor texts as micro content. Therefore each link submitted to a directory or website should have a different title and description. If you haven’t done this yet, it’s time to start or use this technique in other linking campaigns.
Yes, finally you can write your copy in a natural manner. No need to repeat the same keywords or include terms that are incorrect or don’t match with your text. LSI opens new doors for Web writing.
LSI recognizes problem words. For example when looking for LEDs you are not going to find the LED Zeppelin pages anymore, but industry related sites. Basically you’ll get better search results.
